2D ANIMATION DIRECTOR
Chakrra is a Production house founded to create entertainment content for young viewers. We are putting together a talented team for our upcoming project!
Role Description
As an Animation Director you will be responsible for leading and managing the work of the Animation department on both strategic and tactical levels.
You will be a great fit if you are:
Strong expertise in 2D character animation, including timing, spacing, weight, character proportions, body mechanics, expressions, and character acting.
Experience directing or supervising 2D animation for films, television series, or similar productions.
Ability to establish and maintain consistent animation styles and performances.
Experience reviewing animation, providing constructive feedback, and guiding artists through revisions.
Capable of both creative leadership and hands-on animation supervision.

Good understanding of 2D animation production pipelines and workflows.

Relevant professional experience or equivalent portfolio demonstrating animation and leadership capabilities.
These skills will bump you up to superstar:
Familiarity with historical, biographical, or culturally specific animation projects
Experience with dialogue-driven, emotionally engaging, character-centric storytelling.
Experience leading animation teams of commercially produced 2D animated film or television series from pre-production through final delivery.
Experience developing animation style guides, model sheets, character performance references and animation bibles.
Proficiency in Toon Boom Harmony or other professional 2D animation software.
Experience working with remote and/or international animation teams.
Ability to balance creative quality, production schedules, and budget requirements.
A solution-oriented attitude, openness to constructive feedback, and willingness to recognize good ideas from others and work collaboratively.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will look like this:
Ability to interview, evaluate, recruit, train, and schedule freelance artists.
Ability to identify individual team members' strengths and assign work accordingly.
Guide, supervise, and mentor the 2D Animation team.
Establish and communicate performance expectations to the team, maintain organized and structured feedback and review records.
Review animation work, monitor progress, quality, and production milestones at different stages
Approve shots, ensure consistency in character acting, movement, proportions, and animation quality across episodes before they move to the next production stage.
Work closely with the Production Designer and Producer to ensure the animation aligns with the overall vision of the miniseries.
Collaborate with storyboard and animation artists to resolve staging, timing, and performance-related issues before and during animation production.
Identify technical and creative challenges and work with the team to resolve them.
Ensure the animation team delivers work within agreed timelines and production budgets.
Software Proficiency
Toon Boom Harmony (preferred).
Adobe Animate or equivalent 2D animation software.
Familiarity with Photoshop, Storyboard Pro, or other relevant production tools is an advantage
Employment Type: Contract
