Role Description
This is a remote contract position for a Storyboard & Animatics Artist. We are seeking a highly creative, cinematic, and detail-oriented artist to join our production team.
The artist will be responsible for translating scripts, treatments, concepts, and director's notes into compelling visual sequences that establish the pacing, emotion, staging, and screen language of the project.
The ideal candidate should understand how to tell stories visually through camera choices, composition, character acting, transitions, and timing. The ability to transform written material into clear, dynamic storyboards and animatics that effectively guide the animation production process is essential.
For this role, you will need to:
Be able to think like both an artist and a filmmaker.
Have a strong understanding of visual storytelling and the ability to translate written scripts into engaging visual sequences.
Understand that every shot must serve the story, emotion, and rhythm of the scene.
Have an excellent understanding of cinematic language, including framing, composition, staging, perspective, camera positions and movement, shot continuity, screen direction, and visual pacing.
Be able to communicate character acting, emotions, gags, dialogue, action, and expressions through drawings.
Have a strong sense of timing, pacing, and sequencing for animatics.
Be able to simplify ideas into clear, effective visuals quickly.
Be comfortable receiving creative direction and executing revisions professionally.
Have strong communication and collaboration skills.
Be organized, dependable, and deadline-driven.
Have relevant educational background or equivalent professional experience.
Software Proficiency
Toon Boom Storyboard Pro (preferred).
Adobe Creative Suite.
These skills will bump you up to Superstar:
4–5+ years of experience in animation, film, or advertising.
Experience working directly with directors or showrunners.
Familiarity with 2D and/or 3D animation pipelines.
Understanding of layout, previsualization (previs), and shot planning.
Experience storyboarding dialogue-heavy scenes, action sequences, comedy, and emotionally driven scenes.
Experience working in remote production pipelines.
Good problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills.
Good team-working skills.
Have a “can do” attitude that is solution-oriented and willing to put in the extra effort required to get project work done on time and completed at the highest level of quality.
Humble enough to take direction and willing to address constructive feedback.
Able to work with a minimum of supervision.

Demonstrate proficiency in technical troubleshooting and meeting production targets.
Ensure storyboards and animatics remain consistent with the defined visual style and creative direction of the project.
Work closely with the Animation Director and creative team to fine-tune storyboards and animatics and incorporate additional creative and production requirements.
